NTPC to invest Rs. 20,000 crore in Chhattisgarh

NTPC

NTPC  (India’s largest power producer) signed an agreement with rhe Chhattisgarh Government on 12th July 09 to install a 4,000 MW power plant in the state. This proposed power plant will based on coal fired technology and will cost Rs. 20,000 crore .

Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who was present during signing of the pact, said the plant would be set up in the coal-rich Raigarh district. The project, which would need 30,000 hectares of land, will have five 800 MW units.

As per the agreement signed between NTPC and State Government, fifty percent of the power produced will go to the State Government.
