At least 15 real estate companies, including Emmar, MGF and Godrej Properties, are keen to tap the capital market to raise up to $6 billion as the housing sector showing signs of revival.

The activity in the Indian primary market gained momentum since July 09 and we saw four real estate companies, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts, Adani Power, NHPC and Oil India come out with initial public offers (IPO) until now. The listing of Adani Power and NHPC on the bourses was somewhat dull.

Moreover, the accomplishment of a real estate IPO would depend upon corporate governance, background of the companies and the right pricing among others. So the coming IPOs of real estae companies will be a mixed bag as for as the listing in bourses is concerned.
