Suzlon Energy crosses 15,000 MW milestone

Suzlon Energy Limited is world’s third largest wind turbine maker. The company informed the share market ( BSE ) that it has crossed 15000 MW (15 GW ) of cumulative installations in 25 countries worldwide, amounting to 9.8 per cent of the world’s total wind power installations. Suzlon started in 1995 with just 20 people and now it is a leading wind power company with over 16,000 people in 32 countries on six continents.

Suzlon Energy Ltd. have a subsidiary REpower Systems AG and their worldwide installations are 10,000 MW and 5,000 MW respectively. Suzlon Energy Limited is a majority shareholder in REpower Systems AG with a holding of over 90 per cent. It covers Group onshore and offshore installations worldwide.

There is a tremendous potential to grow in this segment of energy production which could be four times of the current world energy consumption of 19,000 GW.
