Now video calling will be possible for Indians very soon as auction for 3G is finally over. This is a win win situation for telecoms companies as well as deficit-strapped government. The 3G spectrum auction including amount payable by MTNL and BSNL will earn revenue of Rs 67718.95 crores to the government. This was a marathon bidding process and took almost 34 days days and 183 rounds for the bidding to get over. Related parties were expecting it to last only 2 weeks or so. The auction was designed to maximize the revenues for the government.

Bharti,Reliance and Aircel has got 13 circle , idea has got 11 circle and Tata and Vodafone has got 9 circle and finally Singapore Telecom has got 3 circle. Idea and Aircel have emerged as the smart players, they have not spent too much money in comparison to what others have spent and have got a fairly good coverage. The Indian government asked the winning firms to make payments by May 31.
