Indian Rupee Symbol Announced

The Indian government has finalized the winner of Indian rupee symbol contest and out of five finalist one Mr. D. Udaya Kumar, a post-graduate student from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay have won the contest. Mr. Kumar said he was honored to have won. The cabinet approved his design which is mix blend of Devanagri ‘Ra’ and Roman ‘R’ and lokks like this.

With this, the Indian currency has arrived on the international platform. The new symbol will be used globally like the symbols for the dollar, the euro, the pound and the yen. This will help India gain a stronghold internationally. The symbol would be officially introduced in India within six months but it would take at least two years to implement it internationally.
