India’s GSM subscribers increased by 14.49 million in March 2011

India is one of the fastest growing mobile phone subscribers country. Its GSM subscribers increased by 2.61% in the month of March 2011 and added 14.49 million new customers. According to data released by the COAI, the total number of GSM subscribers in the country crossed 569.56 million as against 555 million in February 2011.

Vodafone Essar alone saw addition of over 3.65 million new users. Vodafone Essar now has a market share of 23.63%, with 134.57 million subscribers.

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel followed up with an addition of 3.2 million subscribers, taking its total users to 162.2 million.

dea Cellular added 2.7 million subscribers to take its total subscribers base to 89.5 million.

BSNL added 1.36 million subscribers to reach a total subscribers base of 86.46 million.

New telecom operator Uninor added 1.2 million to have a total of 22.79 million subscribers.
