Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s number one IT company, has won State Wide Area Network (SWAN) project from Andhra Government on a five-year build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model. Indian software giant is already implementing the project in Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Bihar.
The company is focussing on India in a big way after the racession, previously it was a foreign export based company.

SWAN would enable the Andhra Pradesh Government to start and run various e-governance projects and citizen services. It would bring about significant efficiencies in G2G (government to government) and G2C (govt to citizen) services. The project would be rolled out in 12 months and TCS will then maintain it for five years.

On implementation, Government offices in 1,088 mandals and 23 district headquarters in Andhra Pradesh would have video conferencing facility and can communicate with each other over VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) phones.
