GE Energy bags order worth Rs 10,000 crores

General Electric Company informed the market(BSE) that they gets prestigious order from India’s Reliance Power. The scope of work include equipment order for the expansion of Reliance Power’s 2,400-mw gas-based power project at Samalkot, in Andhra Pradesh. The company will supply six frame 9FA gas turbines, 3 D-11 steam turbines and generators for the power project under the contract. GE will provide maintenance services for the power project for 15-years. The project is expected to commence power generation by March, 2012. This order is worth Rs 10,000 crores ($750 million) and is the largest order for GE Energy in India. General Electric Company is a global company based in Fairfield, Conn, USA.

Reliance Power, along with its subsidiaries, has a projects portfolio with a cumulative generation capacity of 37,000 mw, both operational as well as under development. The company has substantial coal reserves in India and abroad.
