Hero Honda Q3 FY11 Results : Net profit slides 20%

Gurgaon based India’s largest two-wheeler maker, Hero Honda, has posted a net profit for the period Q3 (ending Dec 10) of the current fiscal (FY10-11) but there is a decline in profit due to increase in raw material cost. During the said quarter, net profit slides 20.00% to Rs 429.16 crores in comparison to Rs 535.77 crores of Q3 (ending Dec 09) of previous year (FY09-10). Hero Honda Motors Limited is a two wheeler manufacturer based in a joint venture between the Hero Group of India and Honda of Japan. The company is the world’s biggest manufacturer of 2-wheeled motorized vehicles since 2001, when it produced 1.3 million motorbikes in a single year. The 2006 Forbes 200 Most Respected companies list has Hero Honda Motors ranked at 108.

The company has informed the share market (BSE/NSE) that the net sales, however, rose 34.12% to Rs 5,118.19 crore in Q3 (ending Dec 2010) of the current fiscal (FY10-11) when compared with the same quarter Q3 (ending Dec 2009) of previous year (FY09-10). Total income was Rs 3,814.42 crores in last year’s quarter Q3.

The company recorded best ever quarterly sales of 1.4 million units during the quarter. Hero Honda on Tuesday reported sales of 4,66,524 units for January, registering a jump of 19.68 per cent over the same month last year. The company had sold 3,89,802 units in January last year.
