Bharti Airtel has clinched a deal to buy a
controlling stake (70%) in Bangladesh’s fourth-biggest mobile
phone operator Warid Telecom. The deal also makes Bharti
the first Indian telcom to make in-roads into the Bangladesh
mobile market, where several foreign players already operate.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd plans to invest Rs
5000 crore on setting up seven new factories in Gujarat and
another Rs 2000 crore at Chennai on a shipyard in the next
two years. In the next five years, L&T will be investing nearly
Rs 25000 crore in various projects across India.

EdServ Softsystems Ltd, the Chennai-based education and placement company, plans to raise up to $500 million through international capital markets, including the issue of ADR/GDR/FCCB, for its expansion plans. It plans to make ‘substantial investment’ over the next few years for expanding its business into the schools, online tuition services and also upgrade its learning management systems to include institutional management systems.
